Cracks in the Roof Vent Booting
The roof vents are small pipes that protrude from your roof. Their job is to reduce moisture. Roof vents have flashings and tight rubber boots to seal them. Over time, however, these boots can crack, and the flashings can come loose, allowing leaks to enter through the resulting gap.
Flashings are thin pieces of metal that protect the vulnerable areas of your roof. You can find them surrounding roof penetrations and on the joints of your roof. They act as a waterproof barrier. Unfortunately, flashings can get damaged by bad weather and knocked loose by strong winds. Wind-driven rain can then enter the gaps and damage the rest of your roof. Fortunately, as a siding, gutters and roof expert, we can fix this problem by installing durable new flashings.
Damage in the Roof Valleys
When rain falls on your roof, the water accumulates in the roof valleys and flows towards your gutters. If this area is improperly sealed, rain can easily soak your underlayment and cause major water damage to your roof structure. During a roof inspection, your roofer will carefully inspect the roof valley and check the flashings and the shingles there. Roofing materials deteriorate with age, and your roofer needs to repair the roof valleys at the first sign of a problem.
